I also have Gout, which means at certain times I need lots of foot room. Amazon is very good on returns Are these waterproof? Only the soles of the slippers are water proof. The upper portion is per minor Swede material that is not! Are the insoles removable? No I don't think so. It is well lined inside so nothing really can be removed. If you need an insole you could probably put one in that's removable.

So far, these slippers have been great. I wear them daily when running errands or doing chores around the house. I did increase 1 full size when I ordered and that seemed to be the sweet spot. You might go 1.5 sizes if you wear socks with your slippers. The inside lining is soft and the memory foam helps keep your foot supported. I've had these slippers for a few weeks so far and would purchase again.
